The best nights sleep I’d had in ages! I usually can’t sleep after an orchestra rehearsal I find my body is still in playing mode and usually end up lying in bed mentally repeating the session I just had until the wee small hours. So I thought I’d try and tell MY mind to shut the PHK up. So after a particularly physical rehearsal I come home put the CD on and…. Tell Your Noisy Mind…Shut the PHK Up !

To control the mind, first you must learn to manage your stress. Once you learn to manage your stress you will feel good about who you are. Stress can weigh you down. However, you have the power within you to take control and stop stress in its tracks. Ultimately, you can allow stress to take control of you which would then affect all parts of your physical, emotional and mental life and you may start to wonder what is your purpose.

Relaxation Techniques to manage your stress:
Take a deep breath. Slow down and look closely inside your mind. Look over your life. Do you see demands on you more than you can bear? If so, do you see why you must remove some of these demands?
Once you review the demands on you look at your attitude. Do you have a positive attitude? Can you adjust your attitude so that it is positive? We all know that positive attitudes make winning people.
Next, review the negative influences in your life. Are you around people who bring you down? If so, can you remove these people from your life and replace them with positive influences?

Now review how stress affects your health. How does stress affect your mental well-being?

Do you eat healthy meals, fresh fruit and vegetables? Do you eat a lot of junk food, candy and ready-meals? If you eat healthy, you should have no problem managing stress. If you go on junk food binges, you need to find ways to control your habits so that you can guide self to relaxation.

Having looked at all of these elements you need to decide if this stress is something you want to keep around and control your life. Do you want to feel stressed to the point your health and mental status is constantly diminishing?

Dealing with the hassles:
Dealing with hassles is up to you. If you have strong coping mechanism to deal with stress you should not have a problem…but most people don’t. If your coping skills are lacking you want to find Relaxation Techniques to train your coping mechanisms to work for you. It does not have to be a masterpiece, it can be something just for yourself or as a memoir for your family. Whatever you choose it will help you relax. Writing is a great form of relaxation technique. When you write you express emotions, which include anger, fear, joy, concerns and so on. Reread what you write so that you can discover you and what is making you feel stressed.
